The 1776 Heritage Pen | American Domestic Woods | 250th Anniversary Commemorative

Product Description:

Mark a monumental milestone in American history with a writing instrument that feels as enduring as the country itself. Designed to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States (1776–2026), this commemorative pen set brings a touch of natural, rustic charm right to your fingertips.

At FNT Homestead, we believe in the beauty of handcrafted, authentic materials. Each pen in this collection is individually hand-turned in our Northern New Jersey workshop and carefully shaped to highlight the unique, organic grain of the wood. The result is a perfectly balanced pen that feels incredibly comfortable in the hand, merging traditional artisan woodworking with everyday functionality.

Whether you’re signing important documents, journaling, or looking for a meaningful gift for a history enthusiast, the 1776 Heritage Pen serves as a timeless keepsake. It’s more than just a desk accessory; it’s a tribute to 250 years of American heritage.

Select Your Wood: Every pen is unique, dictated by the natural colors and grain patterns of the wood. Choose from our curated selection of classic domestic hardwoods or striking exotic imports. (Note: We never use stains or dyes; the vibrant reds, deep purples, and rich browns you see are the 100% natural colors of the wood itself!)

  • The American Heritage Collection: Embracing the rustic beauty of native and traditional woods—perfect for celebrating American history.

    • Available in: Alder, Ash, Butternut, Cherry, Curly Maple, Hard Maple, Red Cedar, Red Oak, Sycamore, Walnut, and White Oak.

Choose Your Finish: Because a pen is a personal tool, we offer two distinct, durable finishes so you can customize the look and feel of your commemorative pen:

  • High Gloss: A brilliant, glass-like shine that brings out the deepest contrasts in the wood's natural grain. Perfect for a classic, polished look.

  • Natural Matte: A smooth, tactile finish that protects the wood while leaving it feeling earthy and authentic in your hand. An ideal choice for those who love a rustic, understated elegance.

Choose Your Hardware: To complete your commemorative pen, select from three historically inspired metal hardware finishes. Each features a muted, antiqued patina that perfectly complements the natural grain of the wood and the rustic, 1776 aesthetic.

  • Antique Brass: A warm, classic golden tone with deep, aged shadows. Reminiscent of colonial-era traditional desk instruments, it provides a timeless, historic look.

  • Antique Copper: An earthy, rich reddish-brown finish with a beautiful vintage patina. It brings out the warm, natural undertones in the wood and perfectly captures an authentic farmhouse feel.

  • Antique Pewter: A cool, rugged, aged-silver finish reminiscent of early American blacksmithing. This option provides a striking contrast—especially against our red-toned or darker woods.

Product Features:

  • Hand-Turned Craftsmanship: Individually shaped and finished by hand.

  • Commemorative Design: Specially crafted to celebrate the 1776–2026 Semiquincentennial.

  • Smooth Writing Experience: Equipped with high-quality ink for a flawless, effortless glide across the page.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can the ink be refilled? Yes! These pens are designed to be kept and used for a lifetime. They take standard, widely available ink refills (simply twist or pull the pen apart to replace the cartridge).

How do I care for my wood pen? Because wood is a natural material, it’s best to keep your pen out of extreme temperatures or prolonged direct sunlight. If it needs cleaning, simply wipe it down with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.

Are the woods stained to get those bright colors? No stains or dyes are ever used on our pens. The vibrant purple of the Purpleheart, the striking red of the Bloodwood, and the deep tones of the Walnut are 100% natural. The finish we apply simply protects the wood and makes those natural colors pop.

Is every pen exactly the same? Because every piece of wood has its own unique grain pattern, color variations, and character, no two pens will ever be exactly alike. The pen you receive will be a true one-of-a-kind piece.
